The wine, the beginning of the Epicerie creation.
Over the years and through his experience with great starred chefs, Thierry Jeantet, who is a qualified oenologist and sommelier, has been able to forge close contacts with winemakers from the most prestigious French estates.
Since his arrival in Switzerland more than 20 years ago and his years as sommelier at Châteauvieux, he has earned a reputation thanks to his valuable advice and his people skills. Beautiful friendships were born with Marie-Thérèse Chappaz, Nicolas Bonnet and Denis Mercier.
Meanwhile, Philippe Chevrier was increasing his number of tables by opening new establishments in Geneva. The idea was to create a platform for directly importing excellent French wines at an affordable price for restaurants, and at the same time, for sharing them with the loyal customers.
Today the Épicerie is also the only shop to sell Domaine de la Comtesse Eldegarde wines by Nicolas Bonnet, bearing in mind that he is no longer taking on new customers.
Since 2005, the collaboration between Nicolas Bonnet, Philippe Chevrier and La Cave de Genève has created a range of Genevan wines, which were recognised by the Gault & Millau guide in autumn 2018 as being part of the very closed circle of the best wines in the canton and are also available directly at the Épicerie de Châteauvieux.
